Vision Zero Community Advisory Committee Student Membership Application Now Open

The City of Phoenix Street Transportation Vizion Zero Community Advisory Committee is now accepting applications for student members. High school and college students are invited to join the Committee as non-voting student members to share youth perspectives on local road safety.

“This is a great opportunity for young people in the community to step up and be a part of meaningful public service,” said Briiana Velez, City of Phoenix Street Transportation Director. “Whether you drive a car, ride a bike, or have other means of getting around the city, you are a Phoenix roadway user, and your input helps our Committee and City leadership make important decisions about roadway improvements.”

The Committee consists of 11 members of the public including a Committee Chair appointed by the Committee. Additionally, three student non-voting members from local high schools or colleges and universities will have the opportunity to participate.

The student non-voting membership is for Phoenix residents ages 17 to 25, enrolled in a local high school, college or university, and able to commit to a one-year membership and attend all bi-monthly meetings. The deadline to apply is August 9.

About the Vision Zero Community Advisory Committee

On September 7, 2022, the Phoenix City Council approved the Road Safety Action Plan (RSAP) and established the Vision Zero Community Advisory Committee to provide feedback and recommendations on RSAP. The duties and powers of the Committee are in an advisory capacity only.
