The Phoenix Police Department's Strategic Management Team works under the direction of the Executive Assistant Chief, and consists of one commander, one lieutenant, one sergeant, and two detectives. The Team is primarily responsible for conducting research to support and coordinate department-wide planning and the development and monitoring of the Policing Plan. Additional functions of the Strategic Management Team include researching information and preparing reports on current projects of the Executive Staff; participating in meetings that affect department planning; making verbal presentations of project results; acting as a liaison with department employees, community groups and City staff; developing, coordinating and monitoring department-wide efforts for the Performance Achievement Plan; conducting training, and providing orientation and support on the Performance Achievement Plan; and coordinating and facilitating the semi-annual planning conferences.
