Enhanced Patrol Deployment Program

Improving Law Enforcement in Your Neighborhood

Do you know the Phoenix police officer that works in your neighborhood? Would you like to? Would you feel safer in your neighborhood knowing that when you call the police, an officer will respond that is aware of your neighborhood issues? The Phoenix Police Department is in the initial developmental stages of a program to improve our service to you.

The Enhanced Patrol Deployment Program is tentatively scheduled to become effective during the summer of 2003. Enhanced Patrol Deployment will increase the number of police officers in your neighborhood area from one to two per shift. Enhanced Patrol Deployment will allow our officers to use their innovation and expertise as never before. Instead of just taking the report and determining "what" occurred, the officer will find out "why" and find a solution to end the problem. Enhanced Patrol Deployment will enable the police department to achieve a greater level of service to the community.

There are several advantages to this plan. First and foremost is that it puts additional officers in your neighborhood. This increase in manpower should make it safer for officers and citizens alike. Communication between the officers and dispatchers will also be improved with the implementation of our new "Public Safety Radio System." Funding for this system was recently approved in the Capital Improvement Project bond election.

The Enhanced Patrol Deployment Plan is in the developmental stages, and the police department is seeking community input. The Phoenix Police Department is pleased with the strides we have made in improving the quality of service that we provide to our communities. Rest assured, what is working well today will not be changed. In fact, you will not see any decrease in the service that you are happy with and most of what exists today will not be changed. However, change is progress and we are continually looking for ways to improve.
