Phoenix police are asking for the public’s help concerning two separate homicides that occurred over the weekend.

Squaw Peak Precinct officers responded to a call of shots fired just after midnight on Saturday, March 6, 2010 in the area of 4450 North Black Canyon. When police arrived, they found the victim, later identified as nearby resident, 21-year-old Aaron Matthew Ford, lying just off to the side of the northbound access road on the Black Canyon Freeway. Fire paramedics were called and pronounced the young man dead at the scene. Witnesses had heard arguing, followed by gunshots and then heard a vehicle leave the scene.

On Sunday, March 7, 2010, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Desert Horizon Precinct officers responded to a shooting call in the area of 27th Street and Grovers Avenue. Phoenix Fire personnel were also summoned to tend to the shooting victim, 36-year-old Chad White, who was lying in the roadway suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Neighbors reported hearing shots fired and saw a suspect vehicle, possibly a dark four-door pick-up truck, leave the area at a high rate of speed.

Investigators are asking that anyone who may have information regarding either incident to please call the Phoenix Police Department’s Violent Crime Bureau at (602) 262-6141, or to remain anonymous, call Silent Witness at (480) W-I-T-N-E-S-S.
