Is This E-mail from the Phoenix Police?
Many of you have received an e-mail that claims to be from the Phoenix Police Department and often begins with, " Be aware of new car-jacking scheme. Imagine: You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside. Then you lock all your doors, start the engine and shift into REVERSE..."

This e-mail does not come from the Phoenix Police Department, and we have, to date, not investigated any occurrences similar to what the e-mail describes. This is not to say that other jurisdictions have not, however, we are not aware of any such cases at this time.

We always encourage citizens to be aware of their surroundings. If you find yourself in a similar situation as the one outlined in the e-mail, it would not hurt to take precautions.
