The city's Street Transportation Department has completed work on the 19th Avenue Bridge over the Central Arizona Project (CAP) Canal and have activated new traffic signals in the area.

Construction on the project began September 2010 to connect 19th Avenue from Jomax Road to West Copperhead Trail. In addition, new maintenance roads along the CAP, street lights, artistic rustication bridge retaining walls and landscaping were part of the improvements.

Also part of the project are new signalized intersections at 19th Avenue and Jomax Road and North Valley Parkway at West Norterra Parkway, which are now activated to manage traffic flow through the intersections.
