Greg Montes, chief of staff, greg.montes@phoenix.gov

Greg is Councilman Gates' Chief of Staff. Greg is responsible for running daily operations of the Council District 3 Office, strategic planning, and serving as the liaison to city management and mayor and council offices. Prior to this role, Greg served in the city of Phoenix Public Works and Community and Economic Development departments, the Phoenix Management Internship Program, and Glendale's Intergovernmental Programs Office. Greg is a native Arizonan from Tucson. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor's degree in political science and earned a master's degree in public affairs from the University of Texas at Austin. Greg is married and has two daughters and one son.

Jessica Amend, research analyst, jessica.amend@phoenix.gov

Jessica is the District 3 Research Analyst.  Jessica develops strategies for solving complex district problems and manages special projects for the district.  She also takes part in the planning, organization, and execution of community events.  Prior to working for the city of Phoenix, Jessica worked on the fundraising side of John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign. Jessica grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and attended Iowa State University.  In her spare time Jessica volunteers in the nursery at St. Joseph’s hospital, as well as for Big Brother’s Big Sisters.  She also enjoys reading and exercising, scrapbooking and spending time with her friends and family.
