Congress passed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) on Feb.13, 2009 and President Obama signed it into law on February 17.
The goal of this legislation is to create jobs, save existing jobs and stimulate our economy into recovery. The law requires that recipients of ARRA funds must report on the use of the funds each quarter, and this information is posted at recovery.gov.
The City of Phoenix created this Web site to mirror that transparency and serve as a resource at the local level. The federal government typically does not give ARRA funds directly to cities and towns -- see how funds flow to Phoenix.
In addition to providing funding through federal programs, this new law includes several tax provisions that may impact residents, and the Small Business Administration has provided a summary of how the law will impact small business owners.
