Phoenix Environmental
Quality Commission

The Phoenix Environmental Quality Commission advises the City Council on issues concerning the preservation and improvement of the city's environmental quality. The 15-member, citizen-based commission, established in 1987, is appointed by the Mayor and City Council.

The commission has three standing subcommittees: Water Quality, Land Use/Solid Waste and Air Quality. Key issues which the commission has addressed include water fluoridation, hillside development, city procurement of environmentally sensitive products, chlorofluorocarbons, pollen control and indoor air quality.

To receive information of future Environmental Quality Commission meetings, contact the Office of Environmental Programs at (602) 256-5669.
